The financial profession deals with both general and industry-specific business ethics challenges. Various factors, including compensation structures, conflicts of interest, corporate culture, corporate purpose, and behavioral blind spots have a profound effect on ethical behavior. Based on the analysis of the behavioral science and ethical systems in this course, students will identify barriers to ethical decision-making, develop and study models for ethical decision-making, and apply this knowledge to real-world examples. Furthermore, students will evaluate the role of finance in society and relate it to ethical investment and the challenges of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) approaches to investing.
